AS1428.1 Step Edge Contrast Compliance
The Building Code of Australia refers to Clause 9 of AS1428.1 for any stairways which are required to be accessible.
This clause specifies that "nosing strips 50-75mm wide are to be provided on stair treads and have a minimum 30% luminance contrast to the tread colour to assist persons with vision impairment."
AS1428.1 requires a value of 30% contrast or greater. E3071 has an integrated contrast of 150%, and E3061 has an integrated contrast of 115%.
