The functional requirement of an aisle lighting system is that aisle features are clearly visible under all light conditions. The aisle features are defined to be steps, aisle landings, ramps, handrails and row markers. High visibility signage providing directions and labelling (eg bathrooms, accessibility routes, fire hydrants) can also be advantageous.
